Hinckley 55 Plus

Heading for the Hinckley 55 Plus club I was looking forward to promoting my book, Now Open Sundays!, as Christmas looms and it makes a good gift, but unfortunately the box of books didn’t arrive on time so with a mini motorbike and sidecar-hearse already packed in our company van I thought I’d show that off instead. As the Hinckley 55 Plus meets in the every so posh Atkins Building that sounded like a bright idea, but what I didn’t know was that to get it in you have to go up stairs, through doors, split it into two to go up a lift, come back down, take the other half up, go along a landing, go down a different lift… Just what is wrong with architects that they don’t even think of access for mini motorbike and sidecar-hearses in this day and age?

Meeting in such a posh and trendy place it was hardly a surprise to find a get-up and go group group of folk. They say life begins at 40, as it sure does in most places, but in Hinckley, Leicestershire it looks like some sort of turbo kicks in at 55 too! Well I had hoped to promote my book for Christmas, but who knows, maybe they will get me back for that again in November 2013 (hint, hint, hint…).
