Pastor John Leitch of Glenboig Christian Fellowship recently addressed the Scottish parliament on the importance of the Word of God and it’s significance in both Scottish and British history. Amazingly he did this in under four minutes. Please click Time For Reflection 30/10/12 and enjoy a good viewing. Years ago John was a denominational church minister who faithfully served The Lord from a number of locations. At the age most men retire he took on the pastorate of the very small independent fellowship in Glenboig to apply his many years of experience and walk with the Lord. Together with the most excellent folks there the congregation soon re-built and today this village based fellowship is even noticed at government level. Many people honestly believe that the proof of your ministry is a plastic denomination credential, but that is simply not true, the proof of your ministry is the fruit! As John’s talk at the Scottish parliament clearly brings out, it is the Word of God that makes the difference, not the word of man!
Having already heard us at their September Saturday Night Special Pastor John announced that Paul would not be needing the microphone to preach at the Sunday evening service. Assuming this was a joke I laughed, only to discover he really meant it, so I preached without a microphone. Even the few who are a bit hard of hearing heard it all so I guess I must be pretty loud after all. Marian on the other hand, she did get the microphone to sing and told the fascinating story of How Great Thou Art, a truly classic song. Glenboig Christian Fellowship is on the whole a maturer congregation, yet I couldn’t help but notice how much even an eleven year old was enjoying herself. This is the sort of meeting you’d enjoy taking someone to who doesn’t normally go to church or possibly doesn’t know the Lord at all. The Gospel is preached, the Gospel is sung and yes, the Gospel is lived out too! I’m glad to see that our Scottish parliament take note of the men and women who faithful serve at ground level. Men like John Leech, a man who boasts no pretentious title, he just boasts of his book, the book, the bible!
