Rutland’s National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club

Marian singing at the Vintage Tractor Club

Paul and Marian went along as a combination to The National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club’s Rutland Group where we were looking forward to Marian singing on top of a tractor, well that’s not quite true, truth is Paul was looking forward to seeing Marian singing on top of a tractor! Instead we found ourselves in the Conservative Club with the disco ball overhead without a single tractor or engine in sight. Marian sang Abide with me with the first verse in Ewe (pronouced Ei wey) and then the last in English. Abide with me is often associated with funerals, but it is also nice to sing it in other contexts as it reminds people that they can walk with The Lord no matter where they are. This of course is the thrill of being invited to so many places outside church as God is there too! Having said that I must confess I couldn’t see why The National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club folk at Melton Mobray invited us in the first place and so warmly at that. That was until I found out that a good number of them were ex-sidecar racers and motorbike enthusiasts as well. What a kick to be welcomed into such esteemed company.
