Having gone round in a bit of a circle during all the TV, radio and press interviews about the tandem bike hearse, I think I’d become far too attached due to such great memories and so much interest made me rethink about selling it. What really put me off was collectors wanting to buy it for collection, rather than to use. In the end I decided we should build them for folk who were keen as us to provide the ultimate be-spoke service, so if you want one we’ll build you one for you.
To keep this tandem hearse in business until we had the next one made we did have to resolve the issue of having enough riders, but thanks to The Leicester Mercury appeal we found not just one, but three excellent chaps. Since then we have developed a coffin shaped Mark 2. I should thank the Christian Resources Exhibition in Exeter who launched me on this end-game cycle, ultimately I left them as the only exhibitor who had successfully talked every visitor out of buying what I had on display!
